Valeria C. Harlay was born in Argentina, from an Italian family, married to a Frenchman, having two children that were born in Spain and Switzerland. Passionate about travel and cultures, Valeria visited 29 countries and moved ten times in her life. Her background is a multicultural melting pot that awakes her interest in intercultural affaires.
Installed in the Swiss Riviera from 2007, the mixture of the increasing expat population and the local people cultures, that coexists harmoniously and gives their particular character to the area, inspired her books:“Welcome to the Swiss Riviera!”; "Living in Vaud"; and "Vivir en Vaud".
Consultant in Swiss culture, communication and integration, she works for individuals, companies and governmental institutions welcoming newcomers and helping them to settle into the region painlessly and to get integrated into the Swiss culture and society.
Independent journalist and writer, author, founder of My Swiss Riviera FB page, Living in Vaud FB group and blog, she is also founder and co-President of étincElles, association for the integration of women; commissary for the Commission Interculturelle et de l’Intégration (Vouvry-VS), and for the Cultural Commission (Vouvry-VS); round table coordinator for national health promotion project; and she also offers support to obtain the Swiss citizenship.
She holds a degree in social communication and journalism, and post-degrees in intercultural communication and hospitality. She speaks Spanish, English, French, and Portuguese.
